Last month I didn’t get round to writing a blog post, which just means this month I have lots of images to share with you!
Throughout July I had the great pleasure in working for the National Citizens Service (NCS) as a Photography Practitioner. In this role I delivered several 3 day photography workshops to 15-17 year olds, teaching them the basics of photography, experimenting with creative camera techniques and how photography could be used to interact with the community. It was fantastic to work with so many young people, sharing my knowledge and helping them develop their skills. They managed to capture some amazing images, and I hope they were all as proud of themselves as I was of them.
In addition to teaching I also covered dance both in the studio and on stage. On stage I photographed Alexander Whitley's new dance piece, 8 Minutes. This was a visually impactful work, utilising high-definition imagery from visual artist Tal Rosner which was projected behind the dancers. The vivid colours created a beautiful backdrop for the dancers to perform in front of. You can see my Rex Features gallery HERE.
I was back in the Rambert studios to photograph rehearsals for the upcoming work created by Greek choreographer, Andonis Foniadakis. Andonis’ work is physical, extremely fast paced and a joy to photograph. I look forward to seeing and photographing this work on stage in lights and costume!
Additionally, I was very happy to be commissioned by the Secret Garden Party to photograph at the final ever SGP! I was given creative freedom to roam the festival capturing it’s beauty and oddities. The festival is vast, providing the festival-goers plenty of space to explore and let loose. It was a busy 4 days shooting, but I had a great time!
I have more exciting projects coming up soon.
