England vs The Netherlands

Mixing it up

So, as you may have noticed, my website has had a major update! I knew I had to make some changes to my portfolio to represent the changing body of my work. I hope you like it, and I would love to hear any feedback you might have. This month I have been very busy attending photocalls, rehearsals and sports competitions all over London. It has been great fun covering such a range of events and I am happy to share some with you below.

First off I headed to indigo at the O2 for Cage Warriors 84 for a night of mixed martial arts, or MMA for short. MMA pits two opponents in a caged Octagon to fight it out over a varying number of rounds and you can win either on points, a knock-out or tapout. Although MMA is a brutal sport and isn’t for the faint hearted, it is fantastic to photograph!

Next up was a trip to Sadler’s Wells for a photocall with Scottish Ballet. I was looking forward to photographing the company, firstly because I hadn’t photographed ballet in a while, but also they were performing the Crystal Pite work Emergence which I was excited to see and shoot. The work focused on the power of the group, making use of large group unison for maximum effect. I certainly enjoyed myself, and I am happy to share a collection below.

Lastly, I headed to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to photograph some international Hockey. This was a new sport to photograph for me, so I was very much looking forward to the challenge. I photographed two matches over two days, England vs Argentina and England vs The Netherlands, and I thoroughly enjoyed capturing a new sport. I will be heading back over the weekend to photograph the mens Hockey World League semi-finals and finals, fingers crossed England make it all the way.

I have a couple of projects that are still in the pipeline, and I look forward to sharing more about them when the time is right.

Until next month.
